ProposalThe proposed works relate to a mature English oak (Quercus robur) located within the rear garden of 36 The Drive, Collier Row. The trees crown extends over the rear outbuildings of 27 and 29 Bartlow Gardens. Works will involve a crown lift to provide approximately 3.5 to 4 metres of vertical clearance from the roofs of these outbuildings, together with the removal of a partially failed limb located over the structures. The crown lift will be achieved through the selective thinning of the overhanging branches with the reduction of branches as required to provide adequate clearance while retaining the natural form and balance of the canopy. All pruning will be carried out in accordance with BS 3998:2010 - Tree Work - Recommendations, with cuts made to appropriate growth points and branch collars left intact. The partially failed limb will be removed to prevent further breakage and potential damage to property. The final pruning cut will be made to a suitable Tertiary Branch (see attached image showing intended pruning point). The justification for these works is to reduce the risk of damage to the adjacent outbuildings and to remove a failed limb that presents a foreseeable hazard. The selective crown lifting will reduce ongoing mechanical pressure on the roofs of the outbuildings while maintaining the tree¢??s health, natural shape, and amenity value. The works are minimal, sympathetic, and will be undertaken in line with good arboricultural practice to preserve the long-term condition and structural integrity of the tree.
